Dancing "Queen"?

Dave had to work this past Friday during the day (he's usually off), so Hayden and I went to see a movie, "Mamma Mia". Hayden and I both LOVED it! He sat more still in it than he does in kiddie movies. I loved it b/c it is just a feel good movie! If you haven't seen it, then go see it. You will not regret it. Well, I was showing Dave the trailer and clips from the movie on the internet yesterday and he said that he would like to see it. So last night, we went to see it AGAIN! (We had a gift card.) Hayden got up this morning and asked to go see Mamma Mia again. Now he is singing all of the songs (well, his version anyway). So, here is Hayden, singing Dancing Queen (with a little help from me). I'm telling you, this kid is the next big thing. Ha!

Hayden's Lingo

Hayden talks from morning until night. A lot of times, I am the only one who can understand him. So I have added an interpretation of many things that he says. Some are pretty obvious, but some are just hilarious! He cracks us up every day. Last night he and I were laying in the bed while Dave was in the bathroom. Hayden was coughing and said that he needed some medicine and Daddy should get it. I told him I didn't think Daddy knew what to get. Then I asked "Didn't you know Moma is the smart one?" He said, "Yeeessssssss." Ha!

This picture is one that my mom sent to me a little while back. Someone took this picture at the beginning of the summer in the Shoals. You can see O'Neal Bridge, Wilson Dam, and the Renaissance Tower. Amazing that someone could catch that, huh?

Say "Cheese"!!!

Hayden got a kid camera for his birthday, and we finally got the pictures off of it today. We were really impressed with some of the pictures he made, so here they are. (FYI-I did delete the x-rated pictures of Dave in the shower, and we have told Hayden that taking pictures of people naked is not okay. So you should be thanking me immensely, especially if you are ever going to spend the night here!)

New 'Do

Today, I got my hair cut off!!! I was really looking for a change and since we are going on vacation in a couple of weeks, I thought it was time. I needed something of the "wash and go" persuasion, so here it is! I think that I will love it, once I get used to it. When I got home, Hayden asked "Where'd your hair go, Moma?" It cracked me up.

Braves Game

Last night we went to our first Braves game as a family. Dave had been once before, years ago, but Hayden and I had never been. We have great neighbors here, and one of them has season tickets. She couldn't use them last night, so she let us have them! We had a great time eating all of the unhealthy ballpark food and enjoying the general atmosphere. Hayden didn't quite understand that he couldn't actually go out on the field and play with the baseball players, but he seemed pretty satisfied to watch the two teenage boys that were sitting in front of us act goofy about the game. He also imitated them quite a bit, which was pretty cute.

We left before the game was over b/c it was getting late and the Braves were losing (to the Cubs, who would've thought?). There was a huge wreck on the interstate that had blocked all the lanes, so we got off to get on Hwy 78, which takes us straight home. Hayden didn't eat much last night, and he said he was cold, so the air was off in the back. Plus we were on a winding road, sort of, so he got car sick about 5 minutes before we got home. By the time we got everything cleaned up and put him in the floor in our room (on the crib mattress), it was close to 11. The poor baby! I'm just glad it wasn't the stomach virus again! I've had enough of that for this year. Overall, it was a memorable evening and I hope we can do more things like this in the future.

Happy Birthday to Hayden - Part 2

Well, Hayden's b-day party was Saturday and we had a great time! He had lots of friends that showed up to celebrate with him and he was so excited that he wouldn't play or eat before opening his presents and blowing out his candles. My mom helped me ice the cake on Saturday morning, and I thought it turned out pretty good. It tasted good for sure b/c we only had one big piece left! One of my cousins even thought we had bought it from Publix. Making his birthday cake is something that I hope to do every year.



The cow stopped by to sing Happy Birthday with us!



The birthday boy blew out his candles with only a little help (there were a lot of candles). He loved having everybody sing to him and being the center of attention!



He had to put on his spiderman costume immediately! Overall, it was a great day full of family and friends! Our little boy is growing up fast. He starts preschool on September 2 and is super excited about that. He's already asking if he can ride the bus!

Happy Birthday to Hayden - Part 1

Today is Hayden's 3rd birthday. It's hard for me to believe that he used to be so helpless and little! Here he is at 14 days old.

It's been pretty exciting for us this year b/c he knows that birthdays mean parties and presents. We have been able to lead up to this weekend for a couple of weeks. This morning Hayden woke up at 6, which is really unusual for him. He must have been super excited. I had wrapped his presents last night and had them sitting out on a table, so when we finally made it downstairs the first thing he had to do was open his presents of course!

He did that, then we ate breakfast and noticed a rabbit in our backyard playing with a chipmunk. We've had a rabbit coming and going ever since we moved in. After that, we noticed that there wasn't just 1, there were 3! We have crab-apple trees, so they like to munch on the fallen apples. Apparently, so do chipmunks, b/c we saw a couple of those make off with some apples too!

I headed to the grocery store for a few things, then got back and cleaned a little more. At 11, we headed to Chuck E. Cheese for some birthday fun! Hayden loves that place, and today was no different. It was even more fun since it was his birthday and we sang to him and he got to blow out the candles on a cookie cake. Towards the end he got a little tired, but we made it out with no breakdowns, so it was okay.

When Hayden woke up, Grammy and Deeda were here, so he opened more presents! Saturday is his party at Chick-Fil-A, so it should be fun. I'm making the cake, so I'll be sure to post the pictures!

Another Project

Well, I am pacing myself on the scrapbook. It is a lot more tedious than I remember and I just haven't been able to force myself to work on it much.

Yesterday I was very productive. I got up first thing and went to the grocery store and the produce stand. I also got busy around the house working on cleaning out the yellow bedroom that has all the pictures and junky things I didn't know what to do with. I fixed the bed with the linens and am working on reattaching the dust ruffle (it's one I had made so it doesn't have the standard piece that goes over the box spring). I need to also hang the curtains in there. So it's coming along nicely and will hopefully be put together in time for Hayden's party on Saturday. (We have lots of relatives coming in and friends also, so I want the house to be as put together as it can be.) I also worked on putting away clothes and washing and things like that. When Dave got home, I grilled 2 pork tenderloins and chicken. We also had mashed potatoes, peas, and fresh corn. Yummy! So we now have enough leftovers to feed an army! I am not cooking anything for the next 2 days so that we can get rid of everything in there!!!

When Hayden took a nap, I worked on this little painting of a monster (from his comforter). I was rather proud of it for how quickly I did it and with very limited paints. The background is actually bluer than it shows in the picture. I had been meaning to do it for some time, but then we moved so unexpectedly I put it on the back burner.


I also fixed Hayden's letters that I had spray painted to match his bed a while back. I got some black ribbon to hang them with and they turned out pretty cute. Maybe I can get a picture of the finished project soon.

Today I have been lazy. I think I wore myself out yesterday. I finished reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for the ??? time, and just basically sat on my butt. Now I need to go to the library tomorrow and get Half-Blood Prince, so I can keep reading here and there. Since Hayden's birthday is coming up this week I have been rather nostalgic and watching a lot of our old videos of him also. It's amazing how with each new age you forget the old one! I am so glad we have the videos to remind us!
