Livee is here!

Livee is already 3 days old! We are so thankful and blessed to have our little girl home and healthy.

As you know, I was scheduled for a c-section on Tuesday morning at 7:30 am. This meant that we had to get up and get to the hospital by 6:15. This would normally not be a problem, except that at around 12:30 am on Monday I started having contractions every 5 minutes. They were not Braxton Hicks either. I was in pain!!! So, I slept very little the night before my major abdominal surgery! We got up after a rough night and made it to the hospital a little early. Dave's mom and stepdad met us there and helped out with keeping Hayden busy. A little later my parents and grandparents showed up. All this time, I was getting prepped for surgery. To me the time went by pretty quickly, but I'm sure it was slow to everyone else. All of the staff at the hospital was fantastic and I felt very well taken care of, which was a very pleasant surprise. Anyways, they eventually wheeled me back to the operating room and I got my spinal block (which was so much better than the epidural that I had last time). They finished setting up the room and brought Dave back to get started at around 7:30. At 8:01 am, Olivia Frances was born! She is a tiny little baby doll weighing in at only 6 lbs 12 oz and measuring only 17 1/2 inches! We knew that she was smaller than Hayden was just by looking at her, but we couldn't believe how tiny she is! They immediately took her and Dave to the nursery so that everyone could see her and she could have her bath and vitals taken. She got an 8 on her first Apgar score and a 9 on her 5 minute one.

After recovery, I was brought to the room and got to hold her for the very first time. After she nursed, of course she was passed off quickly to all of the other relatives who were waiting patiently to hold her. Everyone is in love with her, just like us. Hayden was super excited about wearing his big brother t-shirt and has taken to his new role pretty well. He still wants all of Dave's attention, but we're hoping that the newness of all of this will wear off soon and he won't monopolize him so much. He loves Livee and wants to hold her quite a bit and even rocked her to sleep yesterday afternoon.
We arrived home yesterday morning and other than a little pain (on my part), we are doing well. Livee is eating around every 3 hours and is fairly easy to get back to sleep. I'm enjoying these early lethargic days with her! She goes back to the doctor on Monday for a bilirubin level and weight check and I go back on Tuesday to have my post-operative checkup. Right now, I am upstairs (and staying that way...stairs plus c-section equals bad) so pictures are hard to get, but I will try to post some soon!
